Hi there,
Just wondering has anyone ended up pregnant with a low sperm count? My hubby and I have been married for 8yrs and have Never used protection we always wanted to get pregnant right away. After all these years we haven't got pregnant natural. Is there any hope? We have done 3ivf 2FET and no luck there. Everything looks good for my end but not sure why the embryos are not taking Argrrh... Am so disappointed and sad I want kidss...we can't afford another ivf. I told my hubby maybe we should get a sperm donor or adoptions and he is against both...am not sure what else to do. :'(..... Life can be so unfair. I wish I can foget wanting kids but how do I do that???? Gosh...HELP!! |

Hugs, OP. Yes, fairness is a very subjective concept.
I've been told people get lucky, but it's rare. Have you (as a couple) got proper diagnosis? Low sperm count in itself is not a big deal when it comes to IVF with ICSI. It sounds like your embrios fertilize just fine, and you are able to freeze some. Could there be an implantation issue? Good luck with everything you decide to do! |
Thanks! The last ivf we did we even got the PGD done and we had two normal embryos put back at day5 they were even hatching. I did do a lining biospy testing and it came back normal so at this point am not sure what is wrong. Maybe my body is just rejecting the embryos... this really Suck!!

If you have PGD normal embryos that are not taking, then there are other issues at play, maybe with implantation or immune issues.
IVF+ICSI will take care of the low sperm count, so I am not sure that donor sperm will solve this issue. Yes, this does suck especially when money is a consideration too. Wish you all the best with the path you decide on. |
| Have you done a full thyroid panel (including thyroid antibodies)? Have you been tested for blood clotting factors? |
| My husband has sperm issues too in additional to issues that I have. We did ICSI and tried 3 fresh and 2 FET cycles. We also tried with PGD tested embryos. All our cycles failed. I wondered if there were issues with my body and got a full panel immunology panel done at Braverman's. Now after all this, we know we have immune issues. |
| See Dr. Abbasi at Columbia Fertility if possible if you can scrape up for another IVF. She does immune work even though she isn't an RI. It sounds like you could have immunological and/or clotting and/or auto-immune issues. We started out as pure MFI but found other I have my own issues--autoimmune/clotting/immunological. |
Have you used assisted hatching? Depending on your age (the age of your eggs, to be exact), this may make or break a cycle. |
b I have to agree with I think I may have some issues that maybe affecting me. When I go back to the US I will have another check up.. Thanks! |
Am currently taking thyroid meds.. I have not been tested for blood clot but the RE here did put me on a daily injection for helping with blood clot without being tested ... Doing ivf overseas sucks too! Things are so different here.
|
Well am in the same boat like you then... I have done 3ivf n 2FET and Nada so maybe I should ask them to do this test on me. Did your RE say if that did affect your chances of getting pregnant? Thanks for the advice!!! |
I wish I could be in the US right now but am not I think when we go for R&R I could get some work done. We will have to wait to start another full cycle. I have one frozen embryo left but to be honest am scared that won't work either am thinking of waiting before doing that FET coz that's our last chance and I want to make sure my body is not affecting my embryos. Otherwise I will have to wait 2 years to save more cash for ivf argh am not getting any younger.
Thanks! |
Yes I have done assisted hatching and didn't work am 31yrs old . I was told here that my eggs were hatching out already n didn't need assisted hatching. But when I was in the US on day3 embryo transfer they did do assisted hatching. I wish I knew what was wrong with me grrrrrr. Thanks! |
| Does GW do an immunological panel? Or is it something you have to request? |
