What restaurants in DC are like ....

Anonymous
I opened up an old cookbook from San Francisco restaurants in the late 90's. My mouth was watering thinking about great meals from places like: Eos, Slow Club, Aqua, Rose Pistolla, Cafe Kati, Plumpjack, 42 degrees, Indian Oven, Thep Phanom, etc.

I have lived in DC for more than 10 years and can only think of a handful of meals that came close. I assume I am out of the loop and missing the better places.

Any recommendations? TIA as I want to get out and try some new places.

Rose's Luxury, Daikaya Izakaya, Toki Underground.
I also had some good meals at Zaitinya, Jaleo, and Oyamel.
Meh to Founding Farmers.

I have had above average at Founding Farmers - always predictable but nothing that you reflect on being a fantastic meal.

I agree with having some really good meals at Zaitnya. Meh to Jaleo and Oyamel.

I will check out your other recommendations.

No to Jaleo. I keep thinking they reheated something from costcos frozen section.

Love Rasika.

If you're willing to travel a ways, for our anniversary, we went up to Baltimore and had dinner at Roy's. Then again, we live in the northern suburbs, so it wasn't that far for us.

I was not impressed by Rasika. Spinach appetizer was memorable but everything else was meh. I went to the Penn Quarter one, not sure about West End location.
