We're looking for good day care options for our daughter, who will be 4 months old when we start next month. We live in Mt Rainier and are interested in anything close by. We're already on the waitlist for Heritage.

Thanks!!

A friend of mine was very happy with Rowenna Oesch, in Riverdale. She is Montessori trained.

Good luck to you! I'm also in Mount Rainier and have toured the in-homes that had openings and a couple of the Hyattsville Centers, along with the Gateway Center. I didn't see a single place that had a safe & functional crib or cleared floor space for tummy time. So incredibly depressing.

I've heard great things about Marion (in home provider) though - call her and see if she has an opening. She was booked solid with a waitlist when we checked with her last. I follow the Kinderhaven lady on Facebook (recommended above by PP) and corresponded with her - no openings when we asked either. We ultimately went with an au pair.

I really think MtR deserves a quality infant care option - I'm tempted to start one up myself, or at least partially fund some one to go get some proper training on infant care so she can run her own place with a safe and developmentally appropriate set up.

Glad you're on the wait list for Heritage - a great option! Have you checked out St. Jerome's and St. Ann's in Hyattsville? Wouldn't be too out-of-the-way for you.

There are a few in brookland that I know of- petit scholars, la petite and love & care. There are also seemingly day posts about nanny shares on the brookland kids listserv.

Tour St Jerome's before going on the wait list.

Love & Care's NE location is great if it works for your commute.
