Yoga studio with childcare?

Anonymous
Does anyone know of any yoga studios that offer childcare? I live in DC, so I would prefer a studio in the District.

Thank you for posting this! I too have been asking for this! It seems like such an obvious thing to do.

It may be an obvious thing, but my guess is it's pretty hard for a yoga studio to get a childcare license. Many healthclubs have child care, and though it may not be as nice as a yoga studio you can take yoga classes at most health clubs these days.

I just discovered last week a Yoga studio who DOES offer childcare. YogaChai studio in Adams Morgan (www.yogachai.com) . The owners, a couple with young kids too, just opened it and are offering yoga classes for adults, prenatal yoga and Yoga for the little ones too at convenient non-nap times (I guess they really know small kids’ schedules!).
I have signed up my 4 year old to an Itsy Bitsy Yoga class, which 6 week session just started this week and I can’t wait to actually practice my own Yoga too, knowing they are happily playing in the room next door.
I am so excited about this new neighborhood resource and GREAT offer for parents with small kids!

If you can't find a yoga studio with childcare, you could look into a gym that offers both yoga classes and childcare. Not the same thing, of course, but better than nothing. Sport and Health is one option.

I'll just chime in to second the recommendation for YogaChai. I've been doing prenatal yoga at the Family Health and Birth Center with Autumn and am very excited that they've opened their studio. I am a yoga novice but have really enjoyed my yoga experience with her so far. And, she's got two beautiful and energetic kids and I've gotten a chance to see her with them-- since it sounds like she's the one providing at least some of the child care, I'd feel very comfortable leaving a child with her.
And, I'm curious to try out yoga with my baby...

I third the recommendation for Autumn, the owner of YogaChai. My DS (when he was just a few months) and I did itsy bisty yoga with her. She is wonderful, thoughful, caring and a great teacher.
