DH and I are planning our 10th anniversary, and would like to take a short trip somewhere (3-4 days). We don't have a ton of money, but have 2-years to save up.
We don't like cruises, and although we don't mind going somewhere warm, we aren't really beach people (we like the beach, but are pale and burn easily). We're very outdoorsy, but also would like some place with a bit of history. What are some places you would recommend? |
| North Carolina? |

A few ideas:
1-combine a driving trip of Charleston and Savannah 2- colonial Williamsburg - this would be my choice - obv tons of interesting historical sights, charming inns, great dining and James River is 5 min away with beautiful hiking, canoeing, etc 3- Boston 4- Ashville, NC |
| New Orleans |
| How about Montreal or Toronto? |
|
I went to Montreal last October for an anniversary long weekend. It was great - we stayed 4 days and walked everywhere. Good restaurants, lots of interesting sites and window shopping, great weather.
This year we went to the Florida Keys. Also very nice - more driving than Montreal, but great trip. Some outstanding restaurants in Key West these days. |
| New orleans is like a big open sewer with gumbo joints. |
| quebec city |
| We went to San Francisco and Big Sur. Great 4 day weekend. |
My vote of those listed although I hate to go to CA for less than a week. |
| Santa Fe/Taos. Beautiful weather, lots to do outdoors, local history, Georgia O'Keefe home nearby. Great restaurants, too. |
| What time of year? You can get direct flights to Mexico or the Caribbean. DH and I are on the same timeline for our ten year anniversary, but we're going to take a little longer. We've discussed going to Whistler and Vancouver for some skiing and city fun. We've also tossed around the idea of the Florida Keys. So many options. |
| We did Montreal and Quebec for our 1-year anniversary, and it was great! So much to see and definitely feels like you are far, away. |
