I find this odd. They are all difficult for us to get to. None in the upper or western part of the county. Does anyone have a sense of why that is so? |
I don't know why. But at one of the open houses the principal talked about it being a problem. I recommend writing the school board. |
Because magnet programs are typically placed in schools as a way to increase diversity. They want to draw kids from upcounty or the western zone into the eastern zone by offering programs which will attract them (or their parents). |
I wonder if that is true (what PP said about drawing kids from those part of the county) with respect to Burnt Mills and Rolling Terrace (2 of the 3). Both of them give preference to kids in the school and Burnt Mills then gives preference to those in the middle school district. |
Do they at least have a bus? |
In this thread a poster mentions that they were told in an informational session that yes, there are buses, but MCPS can only guarantee a bus ride no longer than 2 hours. Each way. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/28502.page |
Seems like you really have to want to learn Spanish. We live in Gaithersburg, and it just does not seem worth it. I bet the diversity they were seeking is getting kids from SW MC to go to SE MC. They forgot about the rest of the county. |
