The room in question is 15`long and 11`5" wide. There is a a 71" doorway in one end leading into the dining room and a 66"w/20" deep fireplace in the opposite end.
Looking from the dining room doorway entrance: a) on the right side there is a 33" window about 1` distance from that entrance. b) on the left side, there is a 35" doorway into the living room ->wall space (didn't measure it) <- and 75" french door that opens outward into deck. The tv is going above the fireplace (yes, I know it is tacky but it is the only place it can go). Iam considering getting a sectional sofa L shaped 96"x96" and 38" deep. That would give me about 4' clearance from the dining room doorway to the back of sofa and 3' clearance between sofa arm and left wall where the french door and doorway into living room are. I would probably put a narrow console table behind the sofa so we don't see only the back of the sofa from the dining room... Do you think that would work? The other options are: 1) getting a regular sofa for the right side wall and put chairs in other parts of the room (either opposite to sofa or to the left side of sofa). They could be swivel chairs to allow for better tv view, but would have to be small due to space. That doesn't sound very comfortable and appealing to tell the truth. 2) Get a sectional 96"x 71" (with the longer side going in the right side wall of course). Below is a picture of the room in question (looking from DR), although you can't really see the doorway into living room and window I mentioned. Sorry for the size! Thanks for any suggestions!! ![]() |
I don't see the picture. I think the sectional sounds too big. What do you have in there now and is it too big? I'm not a fan of sectionals. Do you have a huge family and that's why you need more seating?
I personally have a couch, love seat and two chairs that match each other. The chairs can't easily see the tv but make conversation nice for visitors. In my living room I have a sofa, two chairs and two benches in front of the doorway. I love those two benches and they'd be great in front of a tv too. They're similar to x benches. |
