Instructors at Dynamite Agility Center

Anonymous
I'm looking at enrolling my kid in a class at the agility center. He has low tone and coordination difficulties. This would be on top of therapy. Your thoughts? Any instructors to avoid or seek out?

Russel and Hamilton are both wonderful!

My son went there for camp and it was not a good experience. I don't think the instructors were all that wonderful

Motion Education or Dynamite in general? They are separate. Overall, I'm not that impressed by the instructors at Dynamite or how they run their camps.

OP, if your kid's in an individual ME class, I'm sure he'll be fine. The instructors seem a little better in general than the run of the mill Dynamite ones.

It is hit or miss depending on the instructors. You have to keep trying till you get a good fit. I would skip motion if your child is ok in a class. I was not impressed with their camps and would try them.

Many years ago there was a terrific ME instructor named Dov. Not sure if he's still there.

As for the regular programs, I'm a big fan. My daughter took regular classes and camps several years ago. The facility was the cleanest around and they offered very flexible schedules. There were some instructors that didn't wow me, but there were many more who did. The owner, Michelle, is wonderful. We adored her sister, Wendy. I was sad when my daughter gave up gymnastics.

Dov is the owner. Not sure if he is doing instruction. My son has Rob and likes it. It is a private session. I consider it fun not really therapy. But my son is young and receives OT elsewhere on top of ABA and speech.

Agree, these 2 are great! There have been other good instructors, but I think they've moved over to the regular gym recently.

DS has issues with low tone, and we considered signing him up for Motion Education, but in the end chose agility due to cost. It has totally changed his physical capabilities. This is a kid who could not even hang on a bar by himself, and now he can cross monkey bars over and over again.

Agreed. DS is older, weak muscles in general and poor coordination. the agility classes are 1.5 hours for kids 10yrs and older.

+1. We've been seeing Rob for over a year and DS loves it. Has definitely helped self-confidence & gross motor skills

My 5 yo DD who is low tone with coordination issues is doing great at the their Gymnastic center with Kyla. It is in addition to PT and I think it has helped.

Rob is our favorite over at Motion. He is trained in Floortime, which means he is very cognizant of engaging with his kids. He is great with my son.

That said, don't limit yourself just to the agility side of Dynamite. The gymastic side is also very good, and has many more trampolines, which my kid loves.

We went there for our son and it was pretty awful. It could be we just had a bad instructor. Sometimes our son couldn't keep up when they moved to new equipment and they either didn't notice he was struggling and left behind or they didn't care. Either way they left him alone a lot the first two classes and we were so worried he would injure himself that we quit the program.

Just to be clear, I would not recommend the regular classes for a SN kid- I did this and it was, to put it mildly, bad. I think people are talking strictly about the motion ed instructors.
