Anyone have any thoughts on this school? Honestly, DD is considering it as a "safety school"...but, one never really knows for sure if DD would end up attending? We did visit, campus is quite lovely but not particularly motivating. Thoughts? |
Great school for business connections. |
Are you instate Virginia or not? Richmond is a very good school, but I'm not sure why someone would choose it over UVa or W&M if she is a Virginia resident. |
We are "in state" and yes have applied to the two schools noted. DD would use it as a the "safety". Clearly DD is within acceptance range. |
Very, Very Expensive
$60,000 to $65,000 a year http://financialaid.richmond.edu/prospective/cost.html who can afford this |
Better yet...Why?b |
Preppy, Very Southern, Traditional, nice school. Took summer classes there ages ago. |
Probably not for your type. People there are more gracious. Stay away. |
- 1 (not a +) |
Bless your heart. |
University of Richmond has a 30% acceptance rate. I am sure your are aware of their average acceptance statis: SAT critical reading 690, SAT math 720, and ACT composite 31. For a Virginia resident, University of Richmond is a little easier to get into than UVA or Wm & Mary, but not by much. I would not consider it to be a safety. |
I guess things have changed. 20 years ago it wasn't even a safety school. It was where the beautiful, dumb jocks went to party. |
I know two relatively recent grads and like them both quite a lot. They're both energetic, professional, thoughtful. No pause at all about sending mine to school with kids like that.
That said, why would someone from Virginia go there instead of a similar school (e.g., Bucknell, Colgate, Lewis & Clark, Occidental, Pitzer, Rice, Whitman, etc.) in some other ("horizon-broadening") part of the country? |
It seems that this has become the norm. I grew up in NC and back when I was looking at schools (late 80s) the only things you needed to get accepted into Elon were a pulse and a checkbook. |
Not even sure why one would choose it over VT/JMU for that matter....cost matters |
