I hear that Blair is great for the magnet programs. I also hear that Blair is really horrible (bad teachers, complete chaos) for those students who are in regular / non-magnet classes.
It is the largest school, almost as big as a small university. We will be moving to MoCo. I would really love to hear from parents with children attending the non magnet classes at Blair. |
| DC loves Blair. It is like a small university and is known for diversity and forward thinking. I feel DC is going to be prepared academically for college. Blair has less parent support than some other area high schools, but the students are independent and the teachers are involved. |

My son is a freshman in the regular program at Blair and loves it. There are plenty of very bright non-magnet students there, and enough honors-level courses to challenge them. Like any school, there are good and bad teachers, and DS has some of both.
Yes, it is a huge school, nearly 3,000 students, the largest school in Maryland. But that's part of what DS loves about it. Of course, pretty much his entire middle school goes there (TPMS) so he knows lots of kids. And with great size there is great opportunity--there are literally dozens of clubs, so it's easy to find a niche. Hope this helps. Good luck! |

Largest in MoCo, not all of MD. We are a year away from Blair and excited - many of DS's friends (and some of our neighbors) are there and all seem to like it.
Blair troll in 3...2....1.... |
| Blair without magnet is just like typical low performing MoCo HS - a lot of blacks, Latino students. |
I am not going to believe that this is the Blair troll until there's a mention of the principal's Twitter account. |
9:31 here - no, I'm not a troll. just study "at a glance" sheet for blair w/o magnet kids |
| Not every racist snob is a troll, people. |
Or until she mentioned that she moved to Olney to be away from the browns! |

Blair just barely misses being the largest public high school in Maryland this yea...r
https://k12.niche.com/rankings/public-high-schools/largest-enrollment/s/maryland/ But it was the largest in previous years. |
Idiot. There's also a lot of middle class college-bound kids there. In fact, there's a lot of everything there--rich, poor, brilliant, slow, average, etc. In other words, it looks like the real world. |
There is no "at a glance" sheet for Blair without the magnet. |
yeah, but you can "estimate" using assumed racial mix of magnet kids |
Yes, if you make up numbers, you can "estimate" all kinds of stuff. |
Go ahead idiot. |
