what do you think of an MPA degree for starting a second career

After being at home for a number of years?

What did you do before you stayed home? What are your career aspirations?

Was a gov. Lawyer...but that was long ago. It has become apparent that I cannot get a job based on my resume so I need to do something to make myself current. I was a decent atty, but I didn't really love my job. I don't want the stress of litigation (court or hearings) and I get catatonic sitting in a windowless office for 8 hrs straight researching caselaw. But, this is a gov. town, so that's obviously my best shot for eventual employment. Thinking about options and the mpa came to mind.

So you want to work for the federal government?

Forgot to say.... my aspirations are (a) to become employable, (b) to be financially independent (from a personal perspective, not a necessity perspective), (c) to be able to draw soc sec. on my own work record rather than the paltry spousal benefit, (d) to engage with the world outside of school/home/grocery store/gym/etc., and (e) to not regret the years that I coulda, shoulda, woulda done something to have a career post kids.

I would think that is the natural end point of an mpa degree.
