How often do you get new furniture or paint rooms in your house?

Trying to figure out how long these things tend to last.

I have to get a new couch about every 10 years. Last time I replaced the couch, I replaced the coffee table too because my taste has changed since I bought it. I also bought new nightstands for my room after about 13 years because the ones that came with my bedroom set were too big.

Other than that, I really only buy new furniture when I have to furnish additional rooms in a new home. (I'll have to furnish my basement, eventually - we don't need it now.)

I paint maybe every 10 years, with touch-up work on hallways and high-traffic areas more often.

We painted after about 10 years. The kids go through couches at about twice that rate.

I would say about 10-15 years. We are due for a new couch and love seat, but I am waiting until the kids are a little older.

We get a new couches every 12-15 years. We have two upholstered chairs from the 1950's that we reupholstered 17 years ago and they are still going strong. Dining room table and chairs were inherited- bought in the 1920's. DH built kitchen table before we were married. DS's computer table is 50+ years old. Rugs are inherited or purchased 17 years ago. We have a dry sink, slant top desk and a old ice box for storing things- don't know their ages (100+years old). Wooden shelving and storage were purchased 17 years ago. Coffee tables were made by FIL with old repurposed wood- beautiful. Long table built by FIL with repurposed barn wood- fabulous. Blinds were purchased 20 years ago. Mattresses on beds we replace about every 10-15 years.

We painted when we moved in 17 years ago and have only repainted the living room after a rain leak. Waiting for the kids to leave before I will consider repainting again.

Roughly every 10 years per room for paint and accents/accessories (curtains, pillows, comforters, etc.) and family room couches.

Longer for wooden furniture and living room couches.

Unfortunately my style is kind of boring because I'm so afraid to pick something trendy that will become dated.

It all depends on the furniture! I have lots of antiques. I frequently buy and sell antiques on Craigslist.

I am still looking for my "first" pieces, several years after buying my house!
This is because I'm very picky, and I like antiques but not the price. I don't think my taste will change. Louis XV.

Annually? Every room? That is insane.

You must be some really nasty people to have to have to repaint that often.
