I am not sure if this is the correct forum… what is the ideal height for a bed for an elderly

relative? Relative is 5 ft tall and I have to buy a new bed for her use. Do you think the Hemnes Ikea bed would fit the bill? Or is it too high or low? Any suggestions?

Is she in a wheelchair? Then around 20 inches top of mattress. If not then all but the highest beds should be ok.

Would you consider a hospital bed? My own elderly and frail dad used one at home. Added benefit is that it can be raised and lowered and has side rails.

Even someone who doesn't use a wheelchair can have difficulty getting up off a low surface. I'd go with 20 inches either way.

seat height, with nice soft rugs and no sharp corners nearby
