Its all happening very fast- we closed on the house, its getting painted and new fans installed in bedrooms on Sunday. No time to get them shipped. Where can I go buy some moderately priced modern looking fans (3 or 4 blades) in and around DC/MD? |
Home Depot and Lowes fans are pretty good. |
Most Home Depot fans are terrible. Go to Annapolis Lighting and get a real grownup fan. From Casablanca, Craftmade or Kichler. |
I got a casablanca from Amazon but will only arrive in the second week of January. We also just bought a house and have a contractor there right now painting, installing recessed lights, finishing a room in the basement, etc. We will be moving in next week but he said he will install the light/power spot for the ceiling fan and just come back once it arrives to install it itself. He said the installation shouldn't take more than one hour.
I looked at home depot and couldn't find anything I liked. |
Our electrician said Hunter or Casablanca. We found nice Hunter ones at Home Depot (online only) for about $150, which was waaaaay less than some of the fancy fan brands. |
PP here. Just to update that to my surprise, the fan arrived yesterday! Nice surprise ![]() |
If you go to Home Depot or Lowe's, make sure you only buy Hunter brand fans. The Hampton Bay line is terrible in terms of installation (missing pieces, not good fit, etc.).
Hunter is the way to go (or Casablanca, etc.; just NOT Hampton Bay). |
For a more modern look, I love my minka air fan. |
Thanks for the suggestion re: modern looks.... will check it out |
I've had pretty good luck with Dan's Fan City, but they're not super cheap. I hate the Casablanca that a prior owner installed in my house. The controls are way too confusing. |
