| I know there are a few groups in DC and one group that delivers in Fair Oaks (Fairfax OBGYN associates) but the reviews are bad, I haven't found any midwives that deliver in Fairfax hospital (as a just in case things go wrong I like the idea of having a medical facility right there). Any ideas? |

I'm planning to deliver with a midwife through Fairfax OBGYN. I too was scared of some of the bad reviews online, but almost every practice I researched had a ton of bad reviews. I think people who have bad experiences (whether the fault of the practice or not) tend to be more likely to go online and post negative feedback.
So far, I haven't had any problems with long wait times or unresponsivenesd with wait times despite the bad reviews. Not sure about midwive who deliver at Fairfax, but the point of this post is that you shouldn't necessarily let bad reviews scare you since almost all these practices seem to have bad reviews. Good luck! |
| *whoops, meant unresponsiveness with lab results |
| I loved all the Midwives at Fairfax OB and had two of my babies at Fair Oaks with them. I don't think Fairfax has any midwives there because they specialize in high risk deliveries....which are obviously delivered by Doctors. |
Fair Oaks also has surgery suites available for C sections in their maternity ward and a NICU ward. It's not like if you don't deliver at Fairfax you are doomed to not having a decent medical facility attached. I think Fairfax is larger/has more surgery suites and people tend to seek it out if they are high risk. But plenty of hospitals in the Northern VA/DC area are equipped to handle deliveries that do not go as planned. If you're interested in a midwife delivery, you should do at least an online tour of several facilities to get a good feel of your options. |
| I like Fairfax because it's closer... Any midwives that deliver there? |
| I only see midwives listed for Inova Alexandria, Fair Oaks, and Loudoun. http://www.inova.org/healthcare-services/womens-health/childbirth/midwives |
I drove past a crappy hospital with a high Csection rate to have a midwife delivery at Fair Oaks. It was an extra 25 minutes but was well worth it. |
| Does physicians and midwives deliver there? |
