Question about frozen ready to fill pie crusts

Anonymous
I was hoping to use the rolled pie crusts sheets but they were out so I had to get the ready to fill kind. I'm making an apple pie that calls for a lattice crust. Is it possible to defrost and roll out the ready to fill crusts? I was also wondering if it's possible to take the crust out of the tin pan and put it in my glass pie dish.

thanks!

Yes and yes. I did the tin swap for thanksgiving. But it needs to be the same size - most of my pie plates are bigger than the frozen tin but I had one small one that was a perfect fit.

OP again, I was hoping to make a deep dish apple. I have extra ready to fill crusts. Maybe I can defrost two and roll them out together to make a bigger crust to fit my deep dish pie dish.

Yes, you can thaw it and roll it to suit your needs. Yes, you can combine crusts and cut one up to make a lattice (although I love love love the crumb topping on Dutch apple pie.) And yes, you can transfer it to a pan of your choice. Good luck!

OP here, I'm not an apple pie person (make them for my family), but a crumb topping sounds good. Maybe I'll try a crumb tppping this time instead, I do the lattice because I love the look of it.

you don't have time to make it from scratch? it's not that hard and it tastes so much better.

I've never made it from scratch. Do you have a recipe you can share? I'm open to the idea.

Thanks. I might not do it tonight but I'll be making another apple pie later this week and will def try this at that time.
