| I think we're going to make cookies today. Sugar Cookies first. What are you making? |
| Chocolate chip and snicker doodles. |

In the process of making the salted Nutella cookies someone on here suggested. Already made whipped shortbread, spiced walnut cookies, a few batches of candy sushi, and sponge for baguette. Plans for a few others but I haven't decided quite what yet.
I'm kinda hoping I never see sugar again after today. And eyeing the rum extract. |
| Sugar cut-outs, chewy gingerbread people, and oreo truffles (LOVE). |
| Recipe for candy sushi?! ? |
Basically you make an extra marshmallowed recipe for Rice Krispie Squares and wrap in Froot roll ups. Insert gummy worms, licorice, etc. Or top with Swedish fish for nigiri. My formula is 26 large marshmallows, 1 tbsp butter, 2 cups of Krispies. I also find it a little easier to make my nori roll up and roll like a sushi roll, rather than put the roll up on after. It works both ways, though. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/candy-sushi-recipe.html http://mommyknows.com/birthday-party-candy-sushi/ I had trouble finding the appropriate coloured roll-ups, but no one seemed to notice. If you google images for it, there's some totally stunning pics. My particular batch yesterday looked like Willy Wonka was sick on my dining room table, but again, no one else seemed to notice

| ^^ Thanks, PP! That looks really cute! |

Sugar cookie cut out dough is in the fridge and I'm working on another batch of Christmas crack.
I seriously never want to look at sugar ever again. I had been doing a fairly clean, mostly paleo diet for the past two months and fell off the wagon about 10 days ago. I took a pregnancy test this morning (husband has a vasectomy for goodness sake!) because I couldn't figure out where the headaches, nausea, and pimples were coming from. Umm.. yeah... |

Dark choc shortbread w/Scharffen Berger
Lime-Coconut shortbread Inside Out "thin mints" |
| I made Martha Stewart sugar cookies last night but I ate too many before bed and woke up sick. Woops! |
| DH's favorite pecan tassies. I always do a batch just for him that we don't put on plates and deliver to neighbors. One more batch of chocolate bark, this amazingly ridiculously easy receipt from Better Homes and Gardens. I have the ingredients for cranberry-pistachio chocolate brownies but think I'm going to run out of time since I WOH. |
| I'm dreading baking cookies with the kids this week because, while I limit their intake, I am apparently unable to limit my own. |
Key is to bake and then immediately give away! Take to work, give to DH to take to work, drop on neighbors, give to the mail carrier, etc |
Love pecan tassies but I'm the only one in my family that does - so will not be making them. How do you make the chocolate bark? That sounds like something that my family would love. |
I'm at work so doing this from memory but it's crazy easy... Line cookie sheet with tin foil Break 2c of bittersweet chocolate (basically two baking-size bars) into pieces and melt in microwave for 1min on medium. Stir and continue to add 20second intervals until fully melted. Mix half of toppings (see below) into melted chocolate and pour on the foil in a roughly 9in square. Sprinkle remaining toppings on the chocolate, pressing in any large pieces. Refrigerate for 1/2hr and break into pieces. As for toppings, the recipe offered four or five different variants. We tried: 1. Break up 3/4c of baby pretzels and mix with 3/4c of chopped dry roasted peanuts (our favorite) 2. Mix together 1/2c chopped cashews, 1/4c sunflower seeds, 1TB toasted sesame seeds, dash of sea salt (also good) 3. I didn't do it but there were also options for peppermint/mocha bark (crushed peppermint candies and chopped chocolate-espresso beans) and salted caramel-sea salt |
