| We're starting K at a Ward 3 school next year. I can't wait to be done with the mandatory nap we face in Pre-K-- unless there is one. TIA |
| No naps in K, just extra recess. |
|
No. In Pre-k at Janney they did. My kid needed the quiet time. In Kone of my ds would come home hysterically overstimulated for the first 5 months or so--and he would have to nap for 2 hours every weekend. By February he started to normalize somewhat but then he started sleeping really late to compensate so he was late every day in January-March and the principal back then (2006-2007) actually threatened some sort of formal action against me for bringing him in at 9:00 every day instead of 8:45.
My DD was fine with the long days at K but some days she would come home really stressed and regress to her pacifier for a couple hours before bed. Most kids are probably fine with the long days and the two recesses-- mine were just high strung--they take after my DH. |
| My daughter's K teacher had them put their heads on their desks. I wish they would either do nap or not, but I headed the heads on the desk thing. |
| *hated. (not headed) |
|
No. They do not nap.
Centers, lunch, recess, more work, specials, go home. |
| Our K class had rest time for the first half of the year and then it was phased out in the spring. But we were NAEYC-accredited and I believe it is required. |
This too for us at Hearst. Though PP also could be at Hearst given the NAEYC reference. Not sure if there are others in DC. |
| OP it would be easier to get an accurate answer if you just stated what school you are asking about. |
| K's don't typically nap . |
