yes-
Go to the Breyer website, they have lots of horses to play with or collect, and combos of horses with books. Or go to Dover Saddlery website, they have horsey accessories there. Most items from Breyer can also be ordered through Amazon. Just did this for my 9 yr old DS. |
| My daughter loves wearing sweaters, shirts, and pants that have horses on them. Many from Hartstrings. |
|
If she is riding, riding gloves, a colorful crop or a good book with nice pictures of horse breeds and riding techniques are good gifts. A gift certificate to Dover Saddlery or another on-line equestrian store is also good as she can pick out things.

| Playmobil horse set. $10 @ TJ Maxx. |
I think this would be nice for a younger child, but not a 9 year old. |
| Is she taking riding lessons? My ten year old is getting britches and half chaps for her lessons and really excited about it. |
|
get her this one: https://www.breyerhorses.com/snowman
Then you can take her to see the new movie about him later this year, Harry and Snowman. |
$45 for a plastic horse? Are you crazy? |
| I have a large collection of discontinued Breyers from the 80s, boxed in my basement, that I'll sell you. $100 for 50 horses or more! |

I loved horse themed jewelry when I was that age. Bit bracelets, stirrup rings, etc.

You are obviously not into horses. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the outrageousness of what things cost, but it is something that a 9 year old horse lover would likely play with a lot and treasure for years. I still have my Gem Twist Breyer from when I was that age. |
| If she has an American Girl Doll, they have horses and horse accessories, outfits, etc. so her doll can ride too. |
| Jane Smiley has written some great kid/YA books about horses and the kids who love them. |
Au contraire. My almost-9 year old has been taking horseback riding lessons year round for 3 years. She has clothes, helmets, boots, gear, dolls, toys, DVDS, books, sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels and 3 horse-shaped purse/backpacks. But I still would not pay $45 for a plastic toy. |
