Can I live on 100K alone in this area?

I am considering a seperation from my husband and taking a long hard look at my fiances. We have one son. I would like to rent a small house if possible. I make 100K before taxes. I realize there are entire famlies who probably live on this income, but I am looking to hear from others who have seperated and done this before and made it work. Thanks!

Yes - I did it with 87k, twins in day care and no child support. It was challenging but definitely can be done.

That's not true. You can get a decent place with in 10 miles of DC. You're ridiculous.

Absolutely. I bought a house on significantly less than that in income.

You won't have tons of cushion of course, but you definitely can do it.

OP here, I am lonely now in my marriage and quite honestly I would pefer to be really "alone" than with this person that I can hardly stand to look at anymore or have a son grow up watching his mother get treated like trash. I also have no doubt that I will eventually meet another person down the road, if not, thats okay too! Thanks for your comment.

I do on a little over 80,000. it's totally doable. We aren't eating out every night, but I think our life is just fine.

You'll be fine. As long as you aren't trying to live in a huge house or top of the line luxury condo, you could find a place easily.
