Bancroft OOB for PS-3

Any chance of getting into Bancroft if out of bounds. PK-3. They have an open house tomorrow and I don't want to waste time if no chance.

I heard there were a small number of non sib OOB slots last year, but best to confirm with the school directly. It does vary year to year, and there are 45 spots, so the odds are not as bad as, say, Ross. Good luck!

Call and confirm how many sections of preschool 3 they will have next year. People sometimes luck out in the lottery when they discover a schools plans to add another class and people who were entering the lottery weren't aware. I don't know anything about Bancroft so I'm not assuming that they'll have any change in the number of classes. It's just a suggestion.

I would be surprised if they added another PK3 class next year - I do not think that there is space (especially if the modernization begins next fall) and they worked to add another K class this year (a sign that people are staying). Mundo Verde's new location (? and Creative Minds new location next year) may increase Bancroft's popularity within Mount Pleasant - especially for new families to the school system. So, although I don't think that it is likely that there will be any OOB slots (remember OOB with sibs get preference over IBs for dual language programs) you could try - I just would not expect it.

Is the policy change new this year for dual language schools? We were #5 on the waitlist two years ago (IB family), and had to hound them ALL SUMMER to get a spot. We didn't get in until the week before school started, and I don't know of anyone who got in after us.

Yes, it is new this year with the boundary changes.
