Hi so I am looking at Kacedan or Allen Forrest (and found out they all are part of the same on call group). I was looking at C-section rates and a few in this group are REALLY high for this area. I was wondering if you had them and if you had a c-section or vaginal delivery. Did you feel pressured into a c-section or that things moved along too fast in order for you to have one? I wonder why it's so high. I believe Maser is higher risk so that makes sense but what about Kacedan and DeMik?
Thank you!!! |
| I had forrest, am high risk, and had a scheduled c section. Also was seen by a MFM doc. |
| hope to see some answers too OP |
| Maser did my 2 c-sections (1st one was necessary, 2nd one was scheduled due to #1's issue). Dr. DeMik hasn't been in this area that long - he is in Dr. Maser's office. |

I had a csection with Dr. Forrest. I had taken Bradley and was planning for a natural birth/delivery and he was completely on board. However DD had other plans and I needed an emergency c section. I honestly think he saved my daughters life, and have no complaints about the situation surrounding it. I am pregnant with my second now and he and I just had a very long conversation about VBAC vs a Scheduled csection. We looked over my history and discussed everything. For my personal and medical reasons I decided on a 2nd Csection, however I got the feeling that he is not against VBACs and I did not feel any pressure from him or him "pushing" csections at all thru either pregnancy.
I don't think I can say enough good things about Dr.Forrest and am thankful to have him as my doctor! |
| Dr. Wolf is my OB and I felt that she worked very hard to get me a vaginal delivery. She was with me my entire pushing stage. I was an induction two days after my due date because I'd had it and baby had flipped out of breech rather later and we didn't want her to turn again. Doc was pretty sure she was on the smaller side. I was just a fingertip dilated so I was supposed to get Cervadil the night before but when I got to the Hospital I was 4 cm so no Cervadil that kept me but let me sleep overnight sort of, in the morning at 6:00 they started the PIt, I got my membranes broken at around 8:00 Merconium in my waters. I got an EPI around 11:30 and delivered by 3:30. Baby had a tightly wrapped cord that had to give me oxgyen and re-position me several times when the Baby's heart rate monitor would go off. All in all a great delivery. Even my MOm a retired L&D nurse was impressed with Dr. Wolf. I hope my next delivery goes as well. |

I love Dr. Forest. He's amazing. In fact, I drove from Stafford to see him and to deliver at Fairfax.
He uses the on-cue pump for csections which delivers lidocaine to the incision site. Loved that. I have severe scoliosis and had a scheduled section per the recommendation of anesthesia at Fairfax hospital. Forest was awesome & my whole experience was perfect. |
| I had Allen at the start of my second pregnancy and switched after she told me, when I asked pointedly, that she would never allow me to VBAC. She then transferred my records to my new OB with "do not allow VBAC" scrawled across the top in all caps. I successfully VBACd; heed the high c-section warning. |
| 2 pregnancies (both vaginal deliveries) with Forrest. Love him. 2nd delivery was on a weekend so I ended up with the on call Dr. from one of the groups- I think her name was Smith? That delivery was so easy, I think I saw her for 5 minutes total, but she seemed very nice. |
| Dr. Kacedan is a great doctor, but I did have a c-section with him. The C wasn't unwarranted, but it's probable that I could have avoided it or at least put it off longer if I had pushed harder against it/not agreed to induction at the point I did, etc. |
Who is your new OB? |
| Wow I thought this was a baby name post. And none of the options shocked me. |
What makes you think this? What was the reason to have it and do you think waiting would have changed the outcome? I hope this doesn't sound accustatory that is not the intention just curious |
| I think some women do this so they know who is delivering |
| Well I have been shopping around comparing docs and I asked how the "group thing works" because I wasn't comfortable with getting the new kid DeMik (too new and some scary reviews). The lady who answered the phone at K's office said "you. An just schedule a c-section if you want to guarantee the doctor". Excuse me? I am at 6 weeks and the office is already suggesting a c-section? Like it isn't major surgery that honestly should only be done if needed not to fit a doctors schedule. It's very Blaise attitude. Now this was not the doctor talking but the staff which I do believe is a reflection of the doctor. This coupled with the high c-section rates make me think that they do more than needed. |
