Is it possible for AMH to go up? Two years ago it was tested twice within a short period of time and measured at .45 and .41 (The second test was ordered, because my FSH was 4, and my RE wondered if the lab made an error.)
I had a successful IVF cycle (10 retrieved, 9 mature, 7 fertilized, three transferred, one frozen), fairly uneventful pregnancy, and gave birth to my son. As you can tell, the egg quality was not stellar, but we lucked out. Now I'm hoping to have another successful cycle and have tested my AMH at the request of my RE. It went up to 1.8. I asked the nurse to verify, because this is quite a bump. Does it sound like a lab error to you? Or has this happened to others? TIA! |

Yes. My AMH went from .33 to 3.3 within a year and now back to .66. So far no luck with IVF yet but I'm getting retest on January.
I got pregnant when my level was .33. FSH was around 7 |
| Any chance you had a vit D deficiency the first time? Theres some prelim research out there finding a correlation with that and a falsely low reading. Theres still a LOT we dont know about AMH. |

There are possibly 2 reasons:
1. AMH testing is quite unstable. That's the reason doctors don't make a decision based on AMH only. It's a combination of AMH, FSH and AFC. 2. AMH sometimes shoots up due to increased insulin levels. My AMH went up from 0.5 to 1 to 2 within 8 months. But I am still called a person with DOR based on the way I respond. |
OP here. This is basically my conclusion as well. OB put me on 1000mg vit D during pregnancy, so I assume I was deficient. I've been taking it for a while. I've also been taking 600 mg CoQ10, which I hear may have a positive effect on ovarian function. Anyway, thanks to those who responded. I was mostly wondering how common that is. (During my first cycle RE mentioned that I responded somewhat better than he expected.) |
| same here. Went up, I re-tested several times, since my previous doc told me it's impossible because your ovarian reserve does not increase, only decreases. But apparently it is possible for AMH to go up. I stopped birth control and am taking pre-natal vitamin, probably was vitamin D defficient before. |
