Outdoor/ indoor rugs for foyer

I'm trying to find a decorative rug that I can put over the hardwood floor in my foyer that can handle dirty wet shoes without ruining the wood floors below. I currently have a cheap rubber backed carpet I got from Target, but want to find something more attractive but durable that will protect the floor underneath. Is an outdoor/ indoor rug the type I should be looking at?
