DD hand tremors

Every once in a while, 14yo DD's hand will shake severely and uncontrollably for a little while, then stop. What could this be?

You really need to see a doctor about this.

One thing to think about though is how much does she text? It could be carpel tunnel.

Why haven't you taken her to a neurologist yet? Could be carpal tunnel, brain infection, MS, or any number of things!!!

She texts little but types a LOT. She's also sleep-deprived, could be connected to that.

Agree with doctor. Start with pediatrician.

What else is going on in her life and health? Wouldn't rule out stress as a cause, although symptoms are often over attributed to this.

definitely make a dr appt. And list any medications she may be taking. My hands shake if I take too much decongestant.

Could be caused by lack of sleep, could be more serious. Definitely go to dr.

Dh has these. Has had them his whole life. His dad is a doctor. They concluded it was not a problem. I assume they went to the doctor about it when he was a kid. Just meant he would never be a surgeon!

They certainly freaked out my mom when she first met him, though!

She needs to seen by a doctor to rule out the scary stuff. But like the pp said, it may be nothing to worry about. I have a familial shake. Not a big dal at all. My hands just sometimes shake. It gets worse when I am under stress or in a hurry.

What's the scary stuff? Brain tumor? MS?

Nerves, maybe? Is she anxious or tense?
