St Martin

I want to go during the off season sometime between April-June.

Where do you stay?
Is La Semanna really that amazing?
French side vs. Dutch.

Never been to the Carribean before, if you think I'm wasting my time with St Martins, let me know and i'll consider other options!

We went to Grand Case on the French side 7 or 8 years ago, and it was great. We stayed at a little resort within walking distance to town. Beautiful little beach, great restaurants, very relaxed.

We went to the French side several years ago. We stayed at a great hotel called La Plantation in Orient Bay. We had a kitchenette which was nice to have and a very large room. We were about a 3 minute walk to the beach. The hotel was associated with several of the beach bars so we got to use their lounge chairs and umbrellas and got beach service for meals and drinks. Half of our vacation was spent in St. Martin and the rest we spent in Anguilla since it was just a short ferry ride away. That was an awesome place! Anguilla has among the most beautiful beaches I've seen in the Caribbean and isn't as built up as it is in St. Martin. We rented a car in both Anguilla and St. Martin which was nice to have to explore the island and many of the beaches that we couldn't get to by walking.

OP here. Where in Grand Case, which hotel?

Is the mosquito disease still as bad as 2013 when the CDC issued a warning.

Definitely French side, unless you are a young partier. As far as which island in Caribbean, it depends what you are interested in. The food is great on French side of st Martin. It is quite relaxing and pretty. If you are taking young kids, then I would recommend another island, like Aruba or Grand Cayman.

We had a great time in St Martin in 2009. Stayed at the Westin Dawn Beach which is just on the Dutch side of the border.

Spent most of our time on the French side, though. The food is amazing. It's one of those places like New Orleans or Singapore where the bar for food quality is so high that *everything* you eat is excellent, but particularly in Grand Case.
