Hi I'm a new member, I was hoping pick your brains. I'm a military wife who has Tricare insurance which does not cover any IVF.
I live in Maryland an qualified to obtain self coverage insurance I opted for a BCBS Platinum plan where I can go to anyone. My question is a little complicated, I will be doing staggered IVF, where we will do egg retrieval in most likely more than once, test the embryos and then transfer. The Maryland mandate says that there is a cap of 3 attempts of IVF and I'm not clear if each egg retrieval counts as a full IVF cycle I don't think it does my docs office is looking into it but they seem vague in their understanding. I have spoken with the insurance and each time I speak to them I get a completely different response. Has anyone here done staggered IVF under Maryland Insurance and how did this work for them. We are a military family with limited financial resources I want to make sure I am making the correct decision. Thank you, Sivahn |
| Each egg retrieval counts as 1 cycle even if you don't transfer an embryo. I also have the bcbs platinum plan |
| I was told that any time you use the stimming meds that's a cycle, regardless of how far you get. |
| The start of injections usually counts as a cycle. |
