Birth control after delivery - endometriosis patient

Anonymous
I'm delivering my second (and final) baby in February and am trying to determine the best birth control moving forward.
I would love some BTDT advice on options.
Here's my issues/concerns:
I have endometriosis so I don't want anything that will make my periods worse than they already are.
I'd prefer a non-hormonal option if possible.

I've considered getting my tubes tied but I've heard that periods can be quite uncomfortable post delivery.
Any advice?

You have conflicting desires here. It's the hormonal BC that will ease your endometriosis.

I used a Mirena IUD and after the initial adjustment time (I also had a painful insertion), it was my favorite birth control. I stopped getting periods and monthly pain. Took me all the way into menopause.

Kind of same answer as PP, just a different method: I use continuous birth control pills (no placebo pills) to skip my periods completely. Think the docs said even just using birth control pills in general can cut down on growth of endometriosis lesions, but better still not to have those painful periods at all! (And PS, I'm 43, but doctors say that's not actually too old. I hesitated to ask for the Pill after 35 because I thought that was supposed to be bad, but now kicking myself for waiting because apparently the after-35 thing just isn't true.)

I'm not sure if your pain is just bad surrounding your periods or all the time... mine is really just bad around my periods. I've been started on the pill and my doctor told me to just take the packs back and back, without the period. It's bliss!

Longer term, Mirena looks interesting but I didn't do well on with the type of progesterone in it when I was on a different pill several years ago (it totally killed my sex drive and I gained weight). So I'm reluctant..
