Clomid and longer LP?

Anonymous
I'm on my first cycle of clomid. I took it on days 3-7. Ovulated on day 12. Now, I'm at 17 DPO. I'd normally start AF at 15 DPO. Crazy internet reading has me thinking that longer cycles that run from 28-33 days are normal on Clomid. My regular cycle is about 27 days and ovulating on day 12 (same as this clomid month).

Has anyone on Clomid starting at day 3 experienced a longer LP?

Yes. Clomid lengthens the luteal phase and gave me very long cycles.

Are you also using progesterone? That is what delayed my period after using clomid. AF started 1.5 days after I was instructed to discontinue it.

I never used Clomid but I have 19-day luteal phases and 40-day cycles. Got pregnant twice -- the OB said a long luteal phase is super beneficial for conception. I think you're fine! But you can call your RE if you're concerned.

OP here. I'm not using progesterone. Just the Clomid. And, I'm irritated at myself for not asking the doctor more questions. I haven't had any side effects from it (only taking 50 mg) but I sure wish I would have asked if I should be aware of anything - like a longer LP - instead of having to WebMD it.

? Clomid thins your endrometrial lining, so you'll have limited chance of implantation/growth without something to build it back up. I wonder why your doctor did not give you something. Its standard Clomid protocol.

OP here. I'm overseas. I'm seeing an American doctor but I don't think it's state of the art. He did briefly discuss other options but didn't pursue them. My progesterone levels have been fairly high on their own (69 at CD21). I don't know what's sufficient though.

I'm the one who asked about the progesterone. You might be ok; everyone is different. Just because the US doctors give it as part of the protocol, doesn't mean everyone needs it. Its probably just easier for them than to have to tailor everyone's individual treatment.

Yep.
