| I am considering attempting this. Anyone successfully make one and have advice? I keep thinking the cake will far apart when rolled up. |
| Yep - it's not that hard. Just be patient when you roll it but I was surprised at how relatively easy it was. And it has a great presentation! |
| Oh yes! You can do it. There are plenty of recipes with pictures online. |

Melissa Clark at the NYTimes has a video on how to make one:

| Thanks - it says "use a cotton kitchen towel". I have terry cloth type towels. Should I use a tea towel instead or it doesn't matter? |
Yes, use a tea towel. Don't use terry cloth. |
| Super easy. The sponge cake is different than the cake you are used to. It will be fine. If it dies break the icing will cover it anyway. |

There's a recipe in this week's Wine Spectator for a chocolate roulade that looks pretty easy and can be adapted.
It called for using parchment paper, not a towel. |
I used to make these before kids.
|
| Used to do this all the time. Not hard at all. Just give it a shot. |
Unless you like the taste of lint.
|
| Make meringue mushrooms to go with it! They might just be the cutest thing I've ever baked and were super easy. |
I've made mushrooms out of mini cupcakes before, but I like the idea of meringues! |
| I did one last year 100% from scratch with merangue mushrooms. It took forever (it was the particular recipe I used), but it was delicious and looked great. |
| I did it a few years ago. Maybe Martha's recipe? Or at least part of it was from Martha. The mushrooms were easy & made it look fancy. It's not a quick project, but it's not hard! |
