| What's an easy meal I can make and take to someone that just had a baby using ingredients I probably already have on hand? (Husband just informed me he told a co-worker he'd bring by dinner tonight.) I have a thawed pound of ground turkey, plus lots of dry pasta, rice, beans, canned tomatoes, and spices. Probably have some shredded mozzarella and shredded mexican cheese blend. |
| Make a pasta casserole with the pasta, ground turkey, whatever you can make into a sauce, some spices and mozzarella. Bonus if you have some onions and any other vegetables on hand you can add. Then stop by the grocery store on your way to pick up a bagged salad mix and some dessert. |
| Inform husband he is picking up something and taking it to said co worker. |
It also doesn't have to be a home-cooked meal. I've take people a rotisserie chicken, prepared side, salad mix and dessert that I bought from the grocery store on my way to their house, and didn't think twice about it. When you're first home with a newborn, simply not having to think about dinner is the helpful part, and they're probably too tired to notice anyway if you put together some gourmet creation. |
Yep! Although I would have gone to town on a nice warm gooey carby pasta bake like a pp mentioned. Nothing like a nice hot meal when you are bone tired. |
| OP here, I made a gooey pasta and also threw in some cookies I just made yesterday. |
This sounds good! And it's what I would do. |
