
Does anyone do either a natural "colon cleanse" or detox diet for weight loss or health purposes? I recently saw Dr. Ian Smith on a talk show (celebrity diet guru) who has a new book called the 4 day diet or something. Apparently in phase 1 you detox your system.
I've actually done some of my own mild version of detoxing and I have to say, it's very liberating. I've been vegetarian (except fish) for 4 months, hardly any bread, no white carbs except baked potatoe and TONS of veggies all day long. Drink tons of water, tea with lemon, high fiber foods... I've lost some weight but more importantly I feel great and havent had a winter cold once this season while my kids have brought home numerous germs. I have a friend who is very extreme in her eating, raw diet/vegetarian, she's skinny, healthy and very devoted to this as a lifestyle choice. I dont have the interest to go raw but I do see how this feeling of lightness can hook you! I still indulge when we go out to eat or to a friends house, love a glass of wine here or there, but find if I'm really healthy 90% of the time it keeps the weight down, keeps me regular, and my system likes it. colon cleansing kinda freaks me out but there's tons of talk about how healthy it can be..any experiences? |
