We've got a very narrow rowhouse and I'm trying to figure out the best storage solution for our entry way. We already have a sturdy set of hooks for bags and coats, but I need something for shoes, mittens, and ideally some sort of cubby to store my DH's sometimes considerable piles of work paperwork. And cheap of course! |
You could put this under the hooks.
Your husband needs a different place and system for his papers. http://www.wayfair.com/Crosley-Wallis-Wood-Entryway-Storage-Bench-CF6002-CRY2492.html |
Do you have an entryway closet? If so, I'd suggest a hanging shelf (soft, collapsible) and then give each family member a shelf. This is what I do for my family of five. |
It's a narrow rowhouse, so I doubt there's an entryway closet. |

Bookshelf with bins |
I also was going to suggest Ikea. I have a set of shelves that you can put baskets or fabric bins in if you choose. Another thing is that once the weather gets bad and you are using boots, I always put a bin near my door. Recently, I bought a coat rack also because it holds more than the hooks I had by the door. If you get a coat rack, you might find one that has a place for umbrella in the bottom. If you have the time, I would really suggest that you take measurements of your entry way and then go to Ikea and see what they have. |
