entry way storage solutions?

Anonymous
We've got a very narrow rowhouse and I'm trying to figure out the best storage solution for our entry way. We already have a sturdy set of hooks for bags and coats, but I need something for shoes, mittens, and ideally some sort of cubby to store my DH's sometimes considerable piles of work paperwork. And cheap of course!

You could put this under the hooks.
Your husband needs a different place and system for his papers.

Do you have an entryway closet? If so, I'd suggest a hanging shelf (soft, collapsible) and then give each family member a shelf. This is what I do for my family of five.

It's a narrow rowhouse, so I doubt there's an entryway closet.

Bookshelf with bins

I also was going to suggest Ikea. I have a set of shelves that you can put baskets or fabric bins in if you choose. Another thing is that once the weather gets bad and you are using boots, I always put a bin near my door. Recently, I bought a coat rack also because it holds more than the hooks I had by the door. If you get a coat rack, you might find one that has a place for umbrella in the bottom. If you have the time, I would really suggest that you take measurements of your entry way and then go to Ikea and see what they have.
