does CFA do injection classes and/or does shady grove let you pay if you're not their patient

I know Shady Grove has the injection classes but I'm not a patient there. Will they let you pay to attend the injection classes? Alternatively, does CFA do injection classes?

We are doing local monitoring with CFA and out of state IVF. Although our out of state clinic offers videos hubby and I are hands on learners =)

We hired a nurse to come to our house to show us how to manage all the medications, and it was really helpful. I can't remember her name, but I got her info from the nurses at Dominion.

You can learn a lot on how to inject on YouTube

This is kind of humorous, but my DH and I went to the SG injection classes. When it was time to inject, my DH watched the youtube videos and read the instructions. Just make sure you have the right gauge (sp?) needle on the syringe for the stomach injections--you use an 18 I think and the 22 is for mixing (I wish DH were here to verify that). Also, do you have a nurse you can call to ask questions during the process? I think that is probably more important.

People have been doing this before classes and YouTube. I just had the nurse show me how to do it.

You don't need a class. Just use the directions, YouTube and any tips the nurse gives you.

CFA did showed us how to do it during the IVF orientation. I believe we paid $200 for that.

No, no! 18 is huge.
You use a 27 1/2 or 30 G for the subcutaneous injection. The bigger needle is for the HCG trigger shot (intramuscular).

Yes, CFA has a mandatory class. They walk you through everything, and show you how to do the injections. It's $200, not covered by insurance.

It's helpful to watch the videos the first time you do an injection. I set up and iPad next to all my stuff on the kitchen table, and just went for it. The videos are all right here, for just about every possible fertility drug: http://www.freedommedteach.com/eng/index.html

You can also pay one of their staff $75 to do your final trigger injection, which is in the derriere area. They will draw a circle for you earlier in the day, if you do it at home.

Nurse here, an 18 gauge needle is huge, OUCH! It is good for mixing but you need to change to a 22 or 23 gauge 1-1.5 inch to inject HCG. The 27-29 gauge 0.5 inch needles are for subcutaneous injections, Lupron, Gonal F, Follistim, Menopur, etc.

I just started menopur this month and accidentally used the mixing needle to inject the first time. woah. imagine my surprise on night 2 when I realized there were all these extra smaller, more manageable needles included. It was confusing that they included a bigger needle that's never used when you have a q cup! oh well, at least I figured it out early

I was an SG patient and skipped the injection class. I did the same as PP with my laptop set up in the bathroom and watched the videos on the Freedom site. I think I've watched nearly every video and injected nearly every medication at this point!

13:47 here: LOL. Can you tell my DH did all my injections? I never touched a needle. Use the smaller needle for the menopur, not the mixing needle.
