Jeff, there's a thread in OT (paraphrasing here) about a local family who suffered a car accident and their funding site. Many posters are saying this is possible fraud due to the lack of information about the incident. You're pretty savvy about this kind of thing yet compassionate as well. Your thoughts?

I don't really like DCUM being used for fundraising and have come close to deleting that thread. Anonymous posters are not the best references for confirming facts. It took me about 5 minutes to see that the Muslim community is working diligently on behalf of the kids. If it is a fraud, a lot of Muslims are victims of that fraud. The accident apparently happened in the Baltimore area, so the fact that news reports are not available is probably not a red flag. But, the bottom line is that I just don't know whether the the fundraising campaign is fraud or not. Individual posters will have to make their own decision about that. There isn't any sock puppeting that I see.
