| My DH really wants to learn some baking skills. he is already a great cook but in 2015 he wants to try pies, cakes, breads etc...Can someone recommend a great cookbook that will take him through the basics? |

Cooks Illustrated's baking book.
Rose Levy Beranbaum's books are good and very detailed. I also like Dorie Greenspan. For breads, my favorites are the 'Artisan bread in five minutes a day' series. |

| The professional pastry chef fundamentals of baking and pastry fourth edition by Bo Friberg. It will take him as far as he wants to go. He will be able to make anything you see at a bakery and more. |
