I am an associate at a small law firm. I went on maternity leave for 14 weeks this year, all of which was paid. Do you think I can expect to get a bonus for the year, even though I was out on paid leave for so long? Last year I got a $10,000 bonus.
My firm did pro-rates bonuses adjusted for mat leave/hours
Most likely pro-rated.
My smaller law firm prorated my billable hours requirements and my bonus for the years I took maternity leave.
My firm didn't give me a bonus the year I was gone 3 months with maternity leave. (But this was a cheapo "biglaw" firm--and I work someplace else now.)
I got a prorated bonus.
A big firm would annualize your hours to adjust for leave and then perhaps pro-rate the bonus. A small firm may be more likely to short-change you. |
