Portfolio for Admission

Anonymous
My DD plans on applying to universities with architecture programs. Most require portfolios for admission - do you think different schools want to see different styles of her work? The fine arts teachers seem to be uninterested in helping her. Any suggestions on good colleges with architecture programs?

Cornell - it is probably the best in the country

Most schools that require portfolios have very specific instructions on their web sites. Check out a few sites and see the requirements. If your DD normally sketches on her own, some of her material may fit their requirement, if not, she can start sketching to meet their specific needs.

Virginia Tech has a top-ranked architecture program. Every one of my recently graduated friends in arch/industrial design have gotten great jobs. However, the unemployment rate for arch majors generally is one of the highest, so be forewarned.
