Hi all! I've been diagnosed with PCOS, and suffer from other chronic conditions that are all interrelated. My diagnosing GYN was so unhelpful and just wanted me to go on the pill, and provided no other alternative. I've lost 10% of my body weight, but am still struggling, and need a sympathetic, professional expert to can help me navigate all the underlying conditions so that when we are ready to try, I'm healthy.
Do I see a reproductive endocrinologist? OBGYN? What have you done, and do you have any names in DC or NOVA you'd share? (NOT Physicians and Midwives please, as that is where I'm currently being seen). |

See an RE, but really your best bet is the most experienced PCOS person you can find, whatever their title.
I do have one friend with PCOS who swears by acupuncture, for general health as well as fertility. |
| Agree - you have to see an RE. I was treated at Walter Reed so I can't recommend my doctor to you but definitely ask questions and get someone who knows about PCOS. From what I have learned, doctors approach it differently. I had success with clomid. Good luck to you. |
| don't waste time with an OB - go immediately to an RE and join soulcysters.com - an online resource full of amazing PCOS women |
| Not sure what your other conditions are but I would just wait until you're ready to TTC and then go to an RE at fertility clinic. |
No, don't wait! Get your diet and exercise routine to a good place asap. It can take a while for your body to adjust. Consider acupuncture as well. Then, a few months before you want to start TTC, see an RE. |
| I've heard good things about Dr. Frankfurter at GWU, and he apparently refers people to Dr. Robinson if they need surgery. My friend was their patient and was happy with the care she got--now she's TTC. |
| Go see an RE immediately if you want to start trying in the next 6 months. |
| RE for sure. Also know that studies show a link between pcos and low vitamin D. I'd start supplementing now (especially since it's winter!) with 2000 iu daily, then ask your dr to test your levels. |
