| Our school's director said that they get $3,000 per student for the year and that's it. (It's a charter.) Curious if this is correct--I thought the per pupil funding was around $11,000. Is it really just $3,000? Or is it $3,000 for facilities for charters? The director said that they get $3,000 for everything. |

The director is wrong.
http://focusdc.org/uniform-student-funding-formula explains the formula (which had a base amount of almost $9000 per student in FY 10 and is adjusted for inflation). There is currently a lawsuit about whether DC provides equal funding to charters and DCPS, as it's required to do by law. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/dc-charter-schools-sue-city-alleging-unequal-funding/2014/07/30/b19f88ca-1759-11e4-9e3b-7f2f110c6265_story.html is a good overview. |
| Thanks. I suspected she was wrong. |
