giving something like Blue Apron as a gift?

Anonymous
I've seen some positive reviews on here of Blue Apron and I noticed that you can give a week or two as a gift. Are there any other services like this that you've either given or received that you would recommend? TIA!

Not OP but follow-up question.

I got an email this weekend that I'd been given a free gift of 3 meals from Blue Apron from a friend. Not a close friend, that is someone who is on my Christmas card list but with whom I'd never even considered exchanging gifts.

Did Blue Apron raid their Gmail contact list or is this legit? I don't want to feel stupid calling my friend to ask.

I think it's legit, but it's not a "gift", it's a promotion. If you sign up to try it out, they get a free week too. My BF did this for me, and that's how it worked.

It's weird that the person didn't even give you a heads up though.

We gave my BIL & SIL Blue Apron as a birthday gift. They said they loved it and really had fun making the 3 meals. I think if you know the receipent well enough, it's a great idea.

I love Blue Apron -- received it as a gift last year and had some great meals. Gilt had a great Cyber Monday deal yesterday for new customers.

Yes, once you have been a member for a while you get free weeks to give away. I have several and have given them away to posters on this board. It is not a gift per se.

I love Blue Apron but have been having some quality concerns recently. I am very frustrated but I still appreciate the service.
