Menu ideas for a Winter Stolstice party?

I'm thinking of an indoor/outdoor open house with a fire pit, s'mores, cider and beer. Maybe also mulled wine. Any suggestions for other food? Maybe a vegetarian chili?

In my group, latkas are very popular winter solstice food since everyone likes them. It started from one Jewish friend, but carried on so that in this group of friends, they are available regardless of who hosts the winter holiday party.

This is an awesome idea. May I please be invited? I will bring warm homemade applesauce to serve with these.

And apple pie and apple tarts.

Don't hold the vodka. Make Jolly Rancher candy vodka for shots or to pour in small bottles as gifts.

If you go with a kale salad, make sure it's baby kale.

I would, but unfortunately, I'm not hosting this year. Oddly enough, this year is being hosted by the Jewish friend who started this. I'll have an extra latke in honor of DCUM (okay, twist my arm!)
