Reading First Response "Rapid Result" HPTs

Anonymous
Anyone else use these? I accidentally picked up a 3 pack of these last week (usually just get the regular 3 minute First Response kinds). I used them to test on days 14-17DPO. Each time, when I read the result at 1 minute, as instructed, I really couldn't see a second line. But after getting out of the shower 10 minutes later, each day there was a faint second line. Anyone know whether this should be considered a positive? If the test is negative, will a second line appear at all, even later?

I went back to the 3 minute First Response to test on 18DPO and got a positive result at 3 minute (but second line still faint). Called the doctor that day (Friday) to schedule a blood test, but was very sad to start bleeding heavily on Sunday (20DPO) before I could get the blood test. Until I see the dr. this Thursday I am assuming I miscarried. Am just trying to figure out if those Rapid Result tests should be considered positive or negative.

I had a false positive show up on 2 of these tests between 10-15 minutes after I took the tests. They were following my latest IVF cycle and I was heartbroken when they turned out to be false. Positives outside of the time limits of the test are generally false.

That said, it sounds like the 3 minute first response might be accurate since it was clearly within 3 minutes.

I was told by my OB that a positive is a positive and you rarely get a false positive on home pregnancy tests. You probably had a chemicle pregnancy and can be validated with a beta.

I have had false positives with clear blue but never with First Response at all.

Are you doing IUI or IVF b/c the trigger shot is HCG and cause a false positive, so they tell you not to do home pregnancy tests. That being said, the First reponse people tell you it needs to be as dark as the control to be positive. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I used a generic pregnancy test when I woke up at 4 am to pee and was so sleepy I didn't want to wai the full minute so went back to sleep. The the morning I saw 2 lines, so I peed on it again and it was positive again but not as dark as the control. So had a beta which confirmed it. So wait and see what your beta shows.

I'm the pp who had false positives with an IVF cycle. It was actually a FET cycle so I never had a trigger of hcg so this was not the issue.
Positives outside of the suggested time frame (generally 5 mintues) can be false positives. I know because I had 2 and I was most definitely not pregnant (as confirmed by same day beta).

To the OP---try looking at peeonastick.com for all things pregancy test related.
