Hi Moms and Dads!
I'm a reporter for The Washington Post and I'm going to be writing a story on Thanksgiving Day about the unofficial kickoff of the holiday shopping season. I'm looking to interview people who will be shopping online or in-person that day, particularly someone who is trying a new option such as "buy online pick up in store" or who is using an app to help them navigate a brick-and-mortar mall. If you'd be interested in chatting with me, I'd so appreciate your time! I can be reached at sarah.halzack@washpost.com or 202-334-7658. Many thanks, Sarah Halzack |

'm actually boycotting shopping on Thanks giving, both the devote time to my family and allow the employees of those stores open on Thanksgiving to spend time with theirs. How powerful would it be that the stores that are open on Thanksgiving find no shoppers and they send their employees home to spend the holiday with their loved ones.
Of course, I'm happily out there shopping on black friday! I love a good sale, just not on Thanksgiving Day. |
+1. I think this celebration/promotion of Thanksgiving Day shopping you're planning is kind of gross. Well, not even kind of. Just gross. |
| We will never shop on Thanksgiving Day. I also try to avoid shopping anytime during the Holidays at stores who choose to open on Thanksgiving. |
+1 Good idea! |
Exactly |
| Try Wal-Mart, just try not to get trampled. |
| Definitely won't shop on Thanksgiving Day |

We actually do not shop until after Thanksgiving weekend. I think even Black Friday is too early. We spend Thanksgiving weekend enjoying time with family, being thankful and enjoying the end of fall (even though it feels like winter this year).
Monday after Thanksgiving is when we'll start our holiday shopping and planning. That's more than early enough for us. |
| I will be shopping online. That is how I do all my Christmas shopping. |

| It's tradition in my family to shop on Thanksgiving day. And, many in my family work retail. We arrange dinner around those who work and we happily stand in line at Walmart for the great deals. Thanksgiving weekend is one of our very favorite holidays. |
Same here. |
Not OP, but I'm curious when did you start your "tradition to shop on Thanksgiving?" I can remember growing up (maybe I'm showing my age) but grocery stores were not open on Thanksgiving day! The only thing open were the 7-11s. It's just been the last 10 years or so that grocery stores are open and now the retail stores. Shopping on Thanksgiving day, is crazy. I'll shop deals on Black Friday from the comfort of my home. |
| I'll shop online on Thanksgiving day. Good way to kill time waiting for the bird to be ready. |
