| Petite girl - just realized she needs a dress coat and tights/nylons ASAP due to the sudden drop in temperatures. Welcome ALL suggestions. Prefer NW DC/NoVA/SoMoCo. TIA. |

Lands End:
http://www.landsend.com/products/girls-dress-coat/id_271273 Call b/f you go. Lord & Taylor usually has a good selection. |
Thanks - should have indicated - I need it in hand today. Went to L & T Friendship yesterday and did not have much. |
| The kids sections at the White Flint Lord & Taylor is better than Friendship Heights. But since you were in Friendship Heights, I would have checked everything there: Bloomingdale's, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc. Do they have to be nylons, because tights will be easier to find for that age. |
Yes, checked all those spots. |

Tights would be a lot more comfortable for an 11 year old, in addition to being easier to find.

| Macy's. Tights. |
| thanks all. DD hates tights (or the idea of them). |
| I don't think the Land's End coat looks dressy. I like the long woolen coats with velvet collars. |
She likes nylons better? I'm surprised that an 11 year old likes pantyhose better than tights, but then again, I'm an adult who still finds nylons much itchier than tights so who am I to comment? Hope you found what you needed. |
I've always found pantyhose reasonably comfortable. This is the first I've heard that they're supposed to be itchy. Maybe there are some brands that are more comfortable than others -- I've always worn l'eggs brand. At 11 I think OP's DD could probably get away with tights if she wanted to or for warmth given that it's winter, but since she doesn't like tights pantyhose are the obvious choice. That's what she'll be expected to wear for dressy occasions within the next few years anyway, so if she's willing to do so now I don't think I would discourage it or express my surprise to her. As for a coat, I'm not sure of OP's preferred price range but I would consider jcrew if you are willing for this to be an investment piece (might be risky at age 11 unless you know someone you can pass it down to -- a younger relative/friend/whatever when DD outgrows it OR if DD is already in adult sizes). |
