Old Town Market in Kensington - what's up?

Anyone know what's going on there? They had a cryptic message on their Facebook page: "Thank you everyone for the kind words and support and we will for sure be better after the new year!!! We will not let this get us down, it will just make us work harder to make this place better for kensington!!!!!!" Just curious - we love this place.

No idea. My husband was there last week and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I really hope it stays!

I think they had to remove their seating because there is no public bathroom. Check older Facebook messages maybe?

Bingo. A patron was there a while ago and asked to use the restroom. When she was told that there was no public restroom she complained and Old Town Market was forced to remove their seating. Why Continental Pizza and Donut King can have seating but no restroom is an enigma. Thanks bitchy patron for wrecking it for the rest of us. You couldn't just hold it until you got home? Did you take umbrage to the fact that one of the proprietor is African American or that the married proprietors are of mixed races? So sad. Old Town Market is a great addition to Kensington.

Donut king has a tiny clean bathroom to use in the back. I have used it several times. I thought continental had one too.

Yes, there is one. I have used it a few times with my kid. They were very nice about it.

It's fine. My kid likes the cookies. If he does not scream for his hair cut, it is so worth it.

I agree that it's too bad, but don't you think you are jumping to the race card a little too quickly? What basis do you have to make those assumptions?

You know what, I went to the market for the first time recently and actually really needed to use the restroom. Was annoyed they didn't have one.

Saw this on their fbook page:

If anyone has noticed , a compliant to the health department last month has gotten all our chairs taken away. Yes we do not have a public restroom ): with the cold weather and no seating inside , this has really hurt our lunch business and for that we are truly sorry. Please be patient as we are working on a change for the better!!

...why can't they just add a public restroom? I don't get food places that think they don't need to offer that particular service.

You don't assume that is the "change for the better" to which they're referring?

Plumbing is expensive. The customer should have gone to Johnson's like we all do for the bathroom.
