Basement carpet

Just putting Berber carpet in basement bedroom. Had a flood so replacing old carpet. Is the really basic carpet brom Home Depot fine or should I spend slightly more for something softer. Can't tell from the samples if the basic one with padding would be just fine or not.

We put something nicer in our basement. It wasn't top of the line or anything, but it was very soft and I love it. I think it depends on what you are using the room for. We have young kids so I spent a lot of time on the floor (as do they) and wanted something cozy.

We did the same thing. The play room is in the basement, so my kids and their friends end up down there playing.
