Virginia Tech application asks if applicant has ever been suspended from any school. How far back are they asking? DC was suspended for one day in 7th grade for essentially immaturity. Another friend's was suspended in 6th grade for essentially stupidity. Do they really have to answer yes to this question and write a detailed explanation about stuff that happened well before HS?
Common App only asks about HS, so that was clearer. |
What part about "any" don't you understand? What you do is check "yes." If you don't, the university could pull his degree years after it being granted if they find out. |
Personally I would only put high school. If colleges held kids accountable for things they did when they were 13, no one would get into college. |
You are right about any meaning any grade, but I'm laughing at the idea of them take a degree away years later. "I'm sorry Dr. Smith, I know you are on the verge of curing cancer but we've just become aware that you had detention when you were 13 because you immature. Your degree is no longer valid" |
My preschooler is doomed. |
Are those records even accessible by anyone except the student and his parents? The college only receives the high school records, right? |
+ a million! There is no way I would even acknowledge something I did in elementary school! No college or employer has never even asked where I went to elementary school. Virginia Tech is pretty archaic if they're going that far back. Ridiculous! |
LOL! |
You're all forgetting the Permanent Record.
If it's on his Permanent Record, he's pretty much toast careerwise. Why bother with college? |
My niece was suspended from daycare when she was about 2 or 3 - for biting. |
They only care about HS unless it is something SERIOUS. Researched. Confirmed. Applied. |
VT alum here. Only HS info is required. |
OMG my 3rd grader got suspended for kicking someone who untied his shoes. Now he'll never get into college! |
Heh. Permanent Record. Now I have Violent Femmes running through my head. |
