should I cut bangs?

To be clear, what I really mean is: should I have a hairdresser cut bangs for me?

I'm 40. I have straight hair that goes past my shoulders and a high forehead. My hair is very fine -- not necessarily thin when taken in bulk, but fine. It can look stringy if I'm not careful. (Hairstyles with excessive "texture" bring out the stringyness.) I have had bangs in the past, but they don't sit perfectly because I have a cowlick near my hairline in the front.

I'm considering bangs because I want a change and because I think they might work better with my high forehead. Thoughts DCUM?

If you have a high forehead, you are one of the few good candidates! Go for it.

Your hairdresser can cut your bangs to take your cowlick into account, so that the bangs end up with an even appearance, so don't let the cowlick be the deciding factor. It's just hair, it'll grow back if you don't like it.

Fellow high forehead 40-something here: go for it.

Another advantage - bangs cover up those lines on the forehead that other folks use botox on.

Based on what you have said about your hair type and face shape. You are one of the few people I would say yes - try it. Very few people can pull this off.. I like gwyneth Paltrows bangs in the last ironman movie. I wanted to get them so bad after seeing that movie ( same after devil wears prada) but it would like hell on me. Good luck!

Try a long side swept bang first. If you like that, then go for it on your next haircut.
