| All of the sudden, our intimate Tgiving with one other family and their kids has become 5 couples total and 7 kids. Everyone will contribute dishes. We'll do the turkey, stuffing, apps and a green salad. Can I farm out mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberries, another green veg and pies? What do you think? |
| Of course! But also ask if the couples have favorite dishes they make on Thanksgiving. |
| I think this sounds like a great idea. I hate showing up empty-handed to a dinner, and it's best when someone tells me what they need! Also, all of the dishes you mentioned are ones that could be prepared ahead or purchased easily. Have a lovely holiday! |
| No one can cook a Thanksgiving dinner for a lot of people with just one oven, so I think everyone will expect to bring a dish. |
|
You can.
At the risk of sounding anal retentive though, I suggest you make it clear to your guests (nicely!) that they are to bring the dish already prepared and cooked, so all you have to do at the dinner is reheat. Some people will show up at your house with a bag of potaties and say "I need a spot to boil these !" |

Now is the perfect time to remind everyone of THIS CLASSIC:

OMG thank you so much for posting this! I am in charge of coordinating this year, and I just sent the link to everyone invited with a note that says "Just pick which family you want to be and follow the instructions accordingly!" |
Funny! I would be the family that never reads anything (oh, Marney, why do you bother?!) so if I brought something it would be an unexpected surprise. |
| People love to contribute to the Thanksgiving meal! You can assign a couple of things to each family, no problem. |
